Grooming

Welcome to Meg's Grooming Salon!

I have been grooming for over 13 years now and was lucky enough to be mentored by some of the most talented Professional Groomers in the industry.  I frequently attend continuing education seminars across the country throughout the year to ensure my skill remains top-notch and to keep up with the ever-changing styles, techniques, safety protocols, products, and tools that distinguish Meg's Grooming Salon from the rest.

When you book an appointment at Meg's, your dog's comfort and safety are my priority.  I don't do high-volume grooming like many places do and here is why:  That business model is all about what's best for the business owner, not your dog.  It is proven to be stressful for many dogs and teaches them to dislike the grooming process, to stress or have anxiety, exhibit bad behaviors or fight the grooming process, or to look at grooming as a punishment instead of a normal part of life. I believe in quality over quantity and the proof can be seen in my work and on my client's faces.  My goal is to make each of my dog clients and their owners feel as though they are my number one priority at every appointment-because they are!  A quiet, calm atmosphere, working with your dog to earn their trust and teach them to enjoy the process is a priority at Meg's.

We offer a variety of grooming services to suit your dog's individual needs. From full bath and haircut appointments, to helping with shedding, a bath and brush-out between haircuts, or just trimming nails, Meg's has you covered!  We use nothing but top-of-the-line professional products and tools to ensure the quality of our work, and the comfort and safety of your pet.

Please contact Meg's for pricing inquiries, and please take a quick look at our Policies page before your appointment. Thank you!

The best way to keep the cost of grooming down and ensure you get the appointment day and time that works best for you is to keep your pet on a regular pre-booked grooming schedule of 2, 3, 4, or 6 week appointments. Book your next appointment before you leave the salon!

Meg's Exclusive De-shedding Treatment

Grooming isn't just for dogs that require a haircut.  Does your dog shed all over your home? Are they a double coated breed that gets tangled or has a packed undercoat?  Does it seem that they shed year-round? That's because they Do!! The growth cycle of hair on any mamal is designed to constantly shed old hair and replace it with new hair all year round. The average hair growth/shed cycle for dogs is 6 weeks-that's why we recommend regular appointments every 6 weeks!!

Meg's can help with our unique De-shedding treatment!

This process begins with a bath where we use specialized shampoos and conditioners designed to release shedding coat, as well as our hydro-massage bathing system to help relax them for their appointment!  After the bath, we use a high-velocity blow drier and several different specialized brushes and techniques to remove the shedding coat that would otherwise remain on your dog until it fell out all over your home.  If you love your dog but are tired of all the shedding, regular visits for our De-shedding treatment could be a complete game-changer!  Just look at the pictures, our results speak for themselves!

Please Read-Why Is A 6-8 Week Schedule So Important?

I see many dogs that go 2+ months between professional grooming appointments.  Even for owners who brush out and maintain their dog's coat at home, As a groomer, I need you to know why not keeping your dog on a regular 6-8 week professional grooming schedule is not good for your dog.  Styling/hair length choices aside, the number one reason is BEHAVIOR.  We do things differently in the grooming salon than an owner does at home when maintaining and brushing their dog's coat. Your dog needs to tolerate standing on a raised grooming table, being high-velocity blow dried, thoroughly brushed out down to the skin while they stand still.  They need to be used to the vibrating of clippers against their body, having their feet handled and nails trimmed, and much more that owners can't or don't expose them to by grooming at home and skipping regular appointments.  Small dogs or big dogs, not keeping your dog on a regular 6-8 week schedule often means big behavior issues and a big potential risk of injury to either the dog or the groomer.  To do my job, I have to use sharp tools on a living animal in very intimate ways.  If they are wiggling, misbehaving, or scared I have to go slower, which will take more time, require special handling to keep all parties safe, and could potentially stress your dog even further and teach them to hate being groomed.  That exacerbates the problem and makes it worse.  My prices are based on the average time it takes to groom a dog of a certain size.  If it takes more time than the average, it will cost more.  We need your dog to be accustomed to the grooming tools and the process to give you that look you want(this is especially important for doodles).  Dogs that are only groomed every few months are not going to become accustomed to this process.  They may be the best-behaved pet for you at home, but that is because they are used to what happens in your home.  It is important that they are also accustomed to what happens at the grooming salon, and that doesn't happen when they visit irregularly or only a few times a year.  You will not save money by spacing out grooming appointments further between visits.  Please understand that dogs that are groomed every 6-8 weeks see it as a normal part of life and often look forward to their appointments.  Dogs that are groomed less frequently or irregularly see it as a punishment or can be dangerous for myself and my staff. A dog should never think that being properly groomed and cared for is a punishment.
